Even before discovering the untapped potential of an aging market, he embraced public speaking and as a member of Toastmasters in 1974 and won his very first storytelling competition. Since then, educating, entertaining and telling stories has been his first love…and telling them to older audiences has become special part of his business.

Dick is a nationally recognized authority on how changing demographics are impacting sales, marketing, management practices; customer service. He has helped numerous companies and organizations adapt systems and embrace processes to attract and serve the New Consumer Majority of adults age 45 and older. He has educated, motivated and entertained thousands; conducted focus groups for and consulted with a wide variety of businesses, corporations, nonprofits, associations and government agencies in 49 states.

In addition to numerous training manuals developed for clients, Dick is the author of Changes & Choices . . . a positive aging guide to life planning, The Art of the Positive . . . tapping the power of an inclusionary vocabulary, The Art of the Possible and co-author of Aging is a Series of Many Beginnings.

In 1980, he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as the youngest member of the National Advisory Committee to the 1981 White House Conference on Aging, which he attended as a delegate and keynote speaker. He was recently appointed the National Policy Committee as a delegate at large for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging; and assisted with the drafting of the Official Conference Report.
