Dr. Berney has worked for both the private and public sectors. Selected clients include: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Tropicana, Coca Cola, American Red Cross, AT&T, FannieMae, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Marriott Corporation, MCI Telecommunications Corporation, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Pharmacopeia, Montgomery General Hospital, Starwood Hotels, and Baldrige National Quality Program. Dr. Berney currently teaches for the Accelerated MBA Program at George Washington University, Executive Programs at the University of Maryland's School of Business and Management, and for the Office of Continuing Education, Summer and Special Programs at the University of Maryland. She developed and directed the Organization Development Certificate Program at Georgetown University and has taught for the American Management Association. Dr. Berney received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Yale University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland. She earned a Teaching Excellence Award as a graduate student from the University of Maryland and a Distinction in Psychology Award from Yale University. Her specific areas of interest are in helping make teams more effective through more clearly identifying roles and responsibilities, goals, and processes/mechanisms for decision-making, communication and coordination. She uses team building strategies, strategic planning techniques as well as training in communication, negotiation, conflict management and team dynamics to heighten the productivity of all kinds of teams. |
