For the past 10 years, James Glassman has written a weekly column on investing for The Washington Post. It appears as well in the International Herald Tribune, the New York Daily News and other newspapers. He also writes a weekly op-ed column on economic and political topics for the Scripps Howard News Services, which appears in dozens of newspapers. James Glassman's most recent book, The Secret Code of the Superior Investor (Crown) was named one of the top 10 investing books of 2002 by Barrons. From 1987 to 1993, he was editor and part-owner of Roll Call, the twice-weekly newspaper that covers Congress. Prior to that, James Glassman had a long career in magazine publishing -- as president of the Atlantic Monthly, executive vice president of U.S. News & World Report and publisher of the New Republic. In 1972, he started Figaro, a New Orleans weekly, selling it in 1979. He has also had extensive television experience – as host of Capital Gang Sunday on CNN and TechnoPolitics on PBS. James Glassman has appeared as a guest on the CNN’s Larry King Show, ABC’s Nightline, PBS’s Charlie Rose Show and many others. His articles have been published in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Forbes, Reader’s Digest, and other publications. Mr. Glassman has given frequent congressional testimony, recently on subjects as varied as the Asian financial crisis, Social Security reform, personal investing, corporate scandals, mutual fund regulation, and telecommunications policy. James Glassman recently served on the Advisory Group on Public Diplomacy in the Arab and Mulsim World, a commission mandated by Congress; was a member of the President’s Council on the 21st Century Workforce; and serves on the board of trustees of the U.S. Chamber Foundation and the Intel Public Policy Advisory Board. Mr. Glassman is the recipient of, among other honors, the Norman B. Ture Award of the Tax Foundation for contribution toward sound tax policy and the Warren Brookes Award of the American Legislative Exchange Council for distinguished journalism. He is a graduate of Harvard University, where he was managing editor of the university daily, The Crimson. James Glassman has two daughters and lives in Falls Village, Conn., and Washington, D.C. |
